Supreme Court to hear three-way challenge to state picketing ban
The high court agreed to review three cases from Washington state challenging a law that bans picketing when there is no immediate employer-employee dispute. Unions in two cases were ordered to pay damages totaling 750 dollars. The Bremerton local of the Building Service Employees International Union was required to pay owner W. L. Gazzam 3500 dollars. The state court upheld the damage award.

Two Hoonah Men Found Guilty In Game Cases
In U S Commissioner's Court Howard Gray and Arthur Andrews faced charges under game regulations. Fire hits Duncan Memorial Church on Annette Island Alaska

White Holly Arrives with Mack Mercado's Troller at Juneau
The Coast Guard Cutter White reached Juneau yesterday at 5 p.m. towing Mack Mercado's troller 314464, which had sunk in a storm on December 7. In Renton Washington a gas leak caused a blast demolishing a grocery floral shop and cafe, with three other places damaged. No injuries reported and damage estimated at 75000 dollars. Fire Chief Floyd Lawrence said the explosion cracked windows and doors and the fire was controlled in 45 minutes.

Two Overcome as Guests Flee Fire in Fairbanks Hotel
Fire at the Burns Hotel in Fairbanks Alaska damaged the building but all guests survived. Mt Edgecumbe Boarding School principal Max Penrod and Alaska Native Service official Martin Holm returned from the Northwest Association of High Schools and High Schools meet in Washington State. They then served as expert examiners in Seattle for three more days evaluating teacher applications. The 200 delegates represented about 550 schools across the Northwest Hawaii and Alaska. Large raft of logs breaks loose from tug at Cora Point
Three quarter million board feet of timber in a raft broke loose from the tug Adak yesterday morning at Gora Point near Cape Decision. Today the tug awaited aid from Coast Guard aircraft in searching for logs from the raft. The raft owned by Columbia Lumber Company of Juneau was en route from Hood Bay to Ocean Falls BC for Pacific Mills. The Adak grounded on Corn Point and iced conditions forced it to shelter in Shakan Bay.
