Murder cleared up in New York killing of German secretary
Assistant Chief John Ryan reports Ernie Haas, 28, boxer, arrested in Toroto for the killing of Dr. Walter Engelberg secretary at the German Consulate in New York. Haas confessed to beating Engelberg to death in his Brooklyn home on December 5 claiming the secretary’s behavior became offensive. The body was found the next day by Fred Doell, a Consulate employee. Haas’s statement was made to Capt Frank Bals, a Brooklyn detective.

Fourth Division Democrats Meet Adopt Platform
