Seattle December 19 Thomas Quirk admitted to Chief of Detectives Tennant that he killed James O'Brien to stop the latter from pressing unwanted attention on Mrs. Quirk who runs the Island View Hotel. Quirk will be charged with murder. He declined to reveal all motives. Other arrestees from the scene are expected to be released this afternoon.

Albert F Sullivan deputy United States marshal at Valdez died after an appendicitis operation. He had visited his wife and three month old son in Napa California on Thanksgiving and fell ill en route north. Sullivan was known in Juneau as a member of the local Elks lodge.
