Speaker Champ Clark responded to James R. Manns alarmist charges calling the currency bill nearing final Senate passage. Clark praised the measure as stabilizing the economy on a natural, sound basis and said good times lie ahead for the American people. He cited assurances from James J. Hill and Dr John N Johnson.

Dr S Sugden a Whitehorse pioneer and organizer of the Klondike Film company has begun exhibiting his motion pictures. His first show was at Whitehorse on Wednesday. Tomorrow night he will show at Skagway and plans a tour of the country.
The Jefferson left Ketchikan at two this morning and is due at Island at 1 30 tomorrow morning then proceed to Juneau at five or six. She carries 207 tons of merchandise for Juneau 60 for Douglas 40 for Sheep Creek and 14 for Treadwell with a large Juneau passenger list. The Georgia sailed for Sitka and wayports taking passengers from Juneau including G M McDonald Nick Bolshanin and John Doney.

A boarding house at the Kensington mine camp burned Thursday morning forcing forty workers to seek shelter elsewhere. Two crews rode the Georgia back to Juneau. the third stayed at the lower camp half a mile down the hill. Origin of the fire is unknown and the Kensington crosscut tunnel work paused while a diamond drill is planned to map ore bodies on the Eureka and Kensington lodes.
The newly installed Nordberg compressor at Perseverance is expected to be in operation within days. The increased capacity will enable additional drills and boost the workforce by about 150 men.
The concrete walls forming the basement and first story of the administration buildings are finished and will season before the frame superstructure begins. Work is planned to continue despite less favorable weather conditions.
Greenbaum and Epstein, Tacoma merchants with a large stock of women’s wear, are evaluating a Juneau store after reporting their Tacoma stock overrun. A joint Odd Fellows social in Juneau with Silver Bow Lodge No 2, Alaska Lodge No 1 Douglas, and Rebecca lodges from Douglas and Juneau honored Rev. L F Jones Past Noble Grand. Mayor C W Carter opened the program, gifting a gilt-framed group portrait and silver souvenir spoons. Mr Kilburn and Rev J H Condit presented tokens as Jones spoke on lodge work, ending with games and a banquet for about 100 attendees.
