Paris reports Premier Ebert has asked the Allies to occupy Berlin due to disorders. German sources say it may be necessary for Allied forces to police parts of Germany outside armistice terms to aid a stable government and curb Bolshevik influence spreading from Russia.
Paris reports Fi garo claims 35 aeroplanes and 5 000 incendiaries were to drop on Paris with burning chemicals water cannot stop. A second squadron would target firemen amid the flames. Americans and French synchronized clocks and received 1 500 German motor trucks for supplies.
Admiral Sir David Beatty, head of the British Grand Fleet, in a farewell address to departing American forces, praised the American battleship squadron for true comradeship during the war. He noted mutual disappointment at not meeting the German fleet in battle and described Germany’s surrender as pitiful, likening battleships to sheep herded by dogs.

Philadelphia December 18 The American Jewish Congress in session here declares for a Jewish commonwealth in Palestine under a British trusteeship. It favors sending seven delegates to France to assist after the Versailles peace to work with the World's Jewish Congress.
Washington December 18 The House Public Building Committee announced no general public buildings program for next year due to funding needs Other departments will claim remaining funds preventing further Juneau project activity and leaving 177000 dollars unexpended of a 200000 dollar initial appropriation War preparations shifted focus delaying any new public buildings bill beyond this year The committee had proposed 300000 dollars more plus 177000 to complete the project but the plan is deferred as war bills take precedence
An aerial mail service between New York and Chicago was inaugurated today. The first machine left here. A regular schedule is to be maintained and the service is to be extended to other cities.
Former Alaska governor John G. Brady, about 70, died at his Sitka residence after a two year illness described as dropsy. Born in New York City, Brady came to Alaska in 1878, led Sitka Trading Company, served as U S Commissioner at Sitka, and was governor from 1897 to 1905. He left a large family and earlier business ties, later returning to missionary work and ChinA assignment before final years in Sitka.
Annapolis December 18 Secretary Daniels told governors at the annual conference reconstruction will take a year or two to restore normal peace conditions. He urged early demobilization if possible, called for Navy expansion to join an international police force backing a League of Nations, and urged steps to curb rival naval construction.
The Board of Temperance of the Methodist Episcopal Church says two thirds of states will ratify the national prohibition amendment by February 1. Fifteen states have already ratified, three more are expected, with Oregon Washington and California anticipated to ratify when their legislatures meet in January.
