President-elect Herbert Hoover and his party arrived in Buenos Aires after an all day trip across the Pampas. High officials greeted the visitors at the railroad station as a large crowd swamped the reception committee, making the parade to the American Embassy resemble a riot more than a formal welcome.
Shuttle, Dec. 14. State Highway Patrolmen intensify search for a hurtful driver blamed for two deaths. Ethel Morrison of Long Allen Coleman of Tacoma are among victims after a vehicle overran the roadway. Anna Reichel of Teoma is seriously injured and describes a struck car fleeing. Other crashes near Yakima and Shelton claim additional lives and injuries. Police investigate.
Washington December 14 The Senate passed a one billion dollar Treasury Post Office supply bill after funding several million dollars for Prohibition Enforcement rejected by the House. The Senate adopted an amendment to the Boulder Dam project raising cost from 125 million to 168 million dollars. The House approved awarding Flying Crosses to the Wright Brothers.
SEATTLE December 1 The flu death toll in the Pacific Northwest rose above forty in Seattle as Health Officers report more than 40 deaths in recent weeks while noting that flu and grippe are prevalent but not at epidemic levels. Spokane and eastern Washington show heaviest losses but few thousand serious cases are estimated across Oregon Idaho and Washington with many kept from work and school.
Tacoma data shows a 100 million dollar lumber combine planned by Intercoastal interests with 10 major West Coast firms including Sudden and Christensen, McCormick Lumber, Nelson, Hoquiam, St Paul and Tacoma, Hulbert, Lewry, American Mill, Raymond, and Crown. Pacific Atlantic Lumber will operate starting the new year to buy transport market and coordinate output.
Archie Much 38 a Canadian mill worker was convicted last night of murder for lashing Mrs Catherine Clark to death with a hatchet on September 22. His lawyers plan two appeals: a new trial on new evidence and later a Supreme Court challenge claiming his constitutional rights were violated when he could not accompany the jury to the scene.
Travelers report that insurgence forces abducted 22 women from Illi o pee, dynamited a municipal building and attacked the town. The bandits surrounded a movie theatre, selected the women, and took them to their mountain lairs while men were held at bay as pursuit began.

A new wheat variety matures in 10 days and can grow in most interior Alaska areas.
Wallace J. Blanchard sues Adelalile Hanson for 53000 claiming a two year promise to marry was broken. He alleges she refused to marry him and would return or offer costly jewelry. Hanson was formerly married to Dr. J B Pottenger, head of Monrovia sanitarium, now divorced.
In Carbondale Illinois Victor Hundley aged 29 was questioned seven hours with no new details about the killing of his father J. Hundley and his stepmother. He was released but remains under technical arrest after a 24 hour probe. Hundley answered all questions with I do not know who could have done it. No progress was made in the investigation.
London reports December 14 that King George passed through a critical phase of his illness but faced renewed danger as Buckingham Palace notes suggested continued struggle before the danger eased.
Jacob M. Dickinson former Democratic Secretary of War under Taft died yesterday after an operation. A military funeral will be held tomorrow in Nashville with Confederate veterans in charge. Dickinson, born in Columbus Mississippi in 1861, served in multiple posts including Assistant Attorney General, special assistant to Harry Daugherty, and general counsel for the Illinois Central Lines. He practiced law in Nashville and Chicago and held leadership roles in the American Bar Association and the Izaak Walton League. He left three sons and a legacy as a southern-born cabinet member under a Republican president.
Washington officials announced a public program to wage war on the influenza epidemic after a conference with the Board of Strategy. There were 41,063 known cases, with guidance emphasizing isolation, avoiding crowds, and home treatment over hospital care. Closure of schools and gauze masks were questioned by Surgeon General Cummings. Mr and Mrs A J Kuettner travel aboard the Queen from Kililsnoo, and Kuettner runs a hydraulic reduction plant near Killic, a noted diver in that industry.
John Barrymore and Dulieres Centello were married in Los Angeles. Barrymore has recently divorced his second wife. The actor is 41 and his bride is 25.
Minneap lis Journal reports Miss Cora H Webster of Minnesota claims a recovered ice making method could revive low grade ore mining. Bethlehem Steel Corp would commercialize to produce steel, using electricity to replace open hearth. If viable, Northern Minnesota ore could be processed profitably, boosting Minnesota industry and economy.
In a wireless dispatch from the City of New York, Commander Richard Byrd denies reports that he sent Till Ruey to Alaska to secure 40 huskies after dogs died on the expedition. He says Riley did not take part and was not ordered to join the mission.
Washington reports that Pan American Conference officials near a crisis as a special committee seeks to bridge differences between Bolivia and Paraguay. A note from the Paraguayan envoy warned of possible war while the committee debated offering mediation offices to both sides for a boundary settlement.
