British forces in western Egypt report capturing the Italian invasion stock of fuel and food and taking thousands of prisoners along the Mediterranean coast. Italian generals are among those captured as bodies surrender arms after a five day battle in a raging sandstorm.

Lodestars are faster than transports, promising closer connections with the States. Planes likely carry 12 passengers. Associated Press says Nazi bombers attacked Sheffield England’s steel center 140 miles north of London with a great bombing assault. The night raid caused heavy material damage and heightened wartime alerts across the city.
