98ers Return to Skagway Elks Party in Wild Costume
The Days of 98 celebration revived in Skagway drew 750 Elks and guests to the Elks Hall for a lively party. Visitors in sourdough britches and period dresses competed for prizes including best beard and best dance hall costume. First prize went to Steve Sheldon for an iron gray Copper Center bear beard. Mrs Sheldon earned for best women's costume and Ada Winther won for dance hall attire.

Lost trappers found Mink Bay by 6 today
Jack Allen of Ketchikan was airlifted by a Coast Guard plane to Ketchikan for minor medical care after being found at Mink Bay at noon. He and Ivan Hodges had planned to be picked up by a commercial plane on December 7 but ice prevented landing, forcing a hike to the bay mouth for rescue. Volunteers aided in the search amid fog. Clover Pass Float to be Extended Under Territory Maintenance
The 126 foot deck and the float at Clover Pass Knudson Cove seven miles north of Ketchikan have been turned over to the territory by the U S Forest Service. Frank A Metcalf Territorial Highway Engineer said the structure will be maintained by the territory under motor fuel tax funds with plans to extend the float from 70 to 150 feet. The dock serves commercial fishermen year round and provides anchorage in storms while Ketchikan area sports fishermen use it in summer.
