More Suspects Spotted In Red Investigation
The AFL Sailors Union of the Pacific threatened to heck up foreign ships carrying Marshall plan cargo if the Economic Cooperation Administration stops shipping bulk relief in American vessels. ECA head Paul Hoffman said he would end the policy of using American bottoms for half the cargo starting January 1 due to higher freight costs. SAP Executive Secretary Harry Lundeberg’s threat followed protests by the Pacific American Steamship Association and the AFL Masters Mates and Pilots Association West Coast division. Lundeberg telegraphed Hoffman saying the ECA chief exceeds his authority and that the union will use economic power to ensure 50 percent of relief cargo goes to American ships. He indicated plans to picket foreign ships carrying Marshall plan cargo.

SEATTLE December 10 The Baranof will sail today inaugurating a new post war sailing schedule with three vessels. Service to Southeastern Alaska will resume on the prewar basis. Baranof and Alaska sail every two weeks, Denali every three weeks until its February repair layoff. The three steamers serve Southeast and Southwest Alaska, Kodiak Island and Cook Inlet with ports Wrangell Petersburg Haines Skagway Sitka.

The Wamcat carries an emergency radio station enabling immediate communications setup at any port the T boat can reach.
