Allied airmen destroyed 20 Japanese planes in action over New Guinea on Monday. Allied pilots continued dive bombing enemy troops in the Gona Buna coastal strip. Eighteen Jap pilots attempting to relieve ground forces were shot down, two allied planes were lost with negligible losses reported.

Meeting at 4:90 at the American Legion Dugas will elect officers and set rules while welcoming members to use USO Club facilities and join dances, games, picnics, and entertainment.
Juneau unit of Alaska Territorial Guards hosts a dance at the Elks Club Berlin next Thursday starting 9 30 p m and running to 1 a m Uniformed guardsmen and their wives are invited with music by Duck Creek Orchestra An advance briefing at 7 30 p m for newly enlisted guardsmen at the Elks Hall precedes the social event.
