Fort Worth Texas December 3 A jury acquitted John B Snead in the murder case of Al Boyce Sr father of the eloping Boyce and Snead wife Mia Snead Snead chased the couple across the United States and Canada to Manitoba A generational demonstration followed the verdict as lawyers threw hats over the chandelier and Snead yelled a cowboy yell without rebuke.
Washington reports that for the first time in Congress history the budget was submitted by Secretary McVeagh when the body convened. The proposal includes receipts and expenditures for the coming fiscal year and follows Taft’s favored innovation modeled on the English system. Opposition exists but adoption seems likely.

Sofia Dec 3 It is said an armistice will be signed today with or without Greece joining in final negotiations at London. The report cites unnamed officials and follows Greece’s earlier stance on the talks delaying the pact.
In Indianapolis on December 3, the government case in the dynamite conspiracy trials ended yesterday afternoon. Frank M. Ryan, president of the International Structural Ironworkers, testified for the defense denying knowledge of dynamite transportation and stating he never aided the outrages.

Deserted husband C A Johnson a mechanic seized his child and leapt before a Northern Pacific train in Seattle. The child’s head was severed and Johnson believed fatally injured. He was taken to the Emergency hospital.

In Dalton Georgia on December 3 the United Daughters of the Confederacy unveiled a monument honoring General Joseph E Johnston. The ceremony drew local officials veterans and residents to commemorate the Confederate general's memory.

Justice William W. Morrow of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals announced plans to retire next July when he reaches his seventieth birthday. Appointed in 1897 by President McKinley, he will leave the post on becoming seventy.
Senator John D Works of California introduced a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to allow direct popular vote for the president. The measure aims to change the method of presidential election to direct national tally.
