December 2 The Maritime Commission issued an emergency interim plan for private ship operation in the Alaska trade. Alaska Steamship Company and Northkind Transportation Co submitted a long range plan to serve the Territory with five passenger ships and several cargo vessels including the Knot type ships and two dry cargo freighters. The commission would charter or lease the vessels and take hull risk while profits after expenses and depreciation would be shared 75 to the commission and 25 to the carriers with a 35 overall revenue cap for tariffs and rates under discussion.

Lifers Parole Bid Refused for Second Time at San Quentin
