Port Worth Texas December 2 A cattle ranch title transfers to Texas Christian University after Mrs Barritt widow of the late Captain Burk Burnett deeded the ranch to the school. A poker hand of four sixes sealed the deal and Burnett rose from cow punching to win the prize before losing it to luck.
A Tribune personal column quotes a lawyer seeking a none resident societywoman to donate a left ear. The ad offers 2500 dollars for the ear to be removed and grafted by a competent surgeon. Applicant must be young under 25 and may be scarred. Location and secrecy requested.
Akiak Alaska December 2 the Kuskokwim Lumber Company mill was wiped out by a fire caused by an overheated furnace and faulty flue with no firefighting equipment. The Eskimo operator nearly lost his life and logs valued at about 15000 were destroyed. Plans to reorganize and rebuild are underway. The company, organized in 1921 by the United States Bureau of Education, was the only such mill in this part of Alaska handling lumber and fuel.
The Geneva Preparatory Disarmament Conference reconvenes after adjournment with Hourly debate. German delegate Count von Bernstorf pushes for revision of Versailles by strengthening international security and leveraging League of Nations Article 19 to advise on treaties potentially endangering world peace.

The State Supreme Court granted Doc. at Rev. Philip Goodwin a new trial in the murder of J. J. Patterson at Bon Quentin Penitentiary. Affidavits not resented at the original trial were presented as key to a substantial new consideration. Goodwin, once a priest, awaits retrial after March last year.

Washington December 2 The Senate Republicans completed party organizations for the upcoming Seveneth Congress and unanimously nominated George H Moses of New Hampshire to serve as President pro tempore. Charles Curtis Kansas was re elected Conference chairman and Floor Leader while James B Watson Indiana became Vice Chairman and Assistant Floor Leader. Frederick Hale Maine named Conference Secretary replacing James K Wadsworth. The Independents proposed farm relief and committee assignments as talks continued.
December hearing before the International Fisheries Commission revealed a split among halibut interests. The Fishing Vessel Owners Association backed a three month closed season and banning gear on nursery and spawning banks while opposing some limits on under six pound fish. Other parties urged enforcement by deputized vessels or government control with fines for poachers. Washington report notes Humphrey elected FTC Chairman to succeed Hunt.
