J W Forrester and others reportedly surveyed a town site there to spur Nisina and Chisana mining access, with arguments that a new bridge and river winter travel could shorten routes from McCarthy and improve regional development near Blackburn and Kennecott. The General Hubbard arrived in Cordova about 7:30 PM on the 25th with the Jack Dalton party and supplies for Cook’s Inlet. Ice hindered progress toward Knik but the vessel eventually reached safety and refueled before continuing south. Dalton to haul coal from the government mine after setting camp in the Matanka fields.

Big Tanks Near Completion In Ketchikan Alaska
