He will spend a week at the Juneau ANS office and at Mt Edgecumbe before leaving for Bellingham Washington for four months off. Morlander heads the Bethel district serving roughly 7 500 Eskimos and Indians from the lower Kuskokwim to the lower Yukon. Bethel center ships to four air lines and the Alaska Steamship Co. Small stern wheelers carry freight during summer up the Kuskokwim to McGrath. He notes new nurses quarters completed and Bethel Hospital addition planned for next spring. The hospital now has 36 beds and usually houses about 50 patients.
