Brat islava reports say a German Military Governor will assume control after a night move. German troops concentrate near Zilina and Cadea while civilians face frequent traffic interruptions. A military accord reportedly places Slovakia's 30,000 strong army under German command.
Acting Commissioner of Fisheries Charles E. Jackson will be here tomorrow afternoon to confer with Gov. John W. Troy. The visit concerns selecting a site for the Bureau of Fisheries marine products laboratory and the development of the project.
Detroit reports auto production for the week at 12,955 units, about half of last week’s 24,875, as eight manufacturers prepare to launch 1940 models for fall. Wards Automotive notes most makers finished 1939 runs this week.
The Civil Aeronautics Authority grants permission for the trimotored transport to fly over Alaska and the continental United States on a round-world mission. Susmitos Nakao will pilot with two passengers and four crew, routing from Nome to Miami via Fairbanks Whitehorse Juneau Seattle and San Francisco.
Washington reports from Tokyo and London indicate England asked the United States to assist in stabilizing the Chinese currency but found very limited support. Doubts arise about China's need for stabilization, and Treasury concerns over a move largely benefiting British trade with China.

Aug 19 Seattle mem bers of the House sub Committee planning the first Congressional study of Alaska fisheries arrived and will sail tomorrow aboard the Coast Guard cutter Ingham for hearings in Alaska. Chairman Schuyler Bland said issues are similar to past sessions but no committee has studied the Territory firsthand. Other members include Reps Kennedy of Maryland Boykin of Alabama Welch of California Seger Oliver Gulick clerk and Ralph Sterling court reporter.
The PAA plane from Fairbanks arrived this afternoon with six passengers. Pilots were Al Monson and Bert Lien. Passengers included C A Schneider, Thomas Hess, M Stepovich, Mrs A Chatinet, H Spall, and J Livengood. A second plane piloted by Bill Knox and Ralph Savory was to leave for Fairbanks later with W L Kerns aboard.
