The Army officials led by Assistant Secretary of War Louis Johnson and Assistant Secretary of Commerce J Monroe Johnson arrived in Juneau aboard a PAA Electra after a Seattle to Juneau nonstop flight of 8 hours 45 minutes. They planned a survey of the Fairbanks Army air base with possible follow up to Anchorage and Haines, while noting the base would be large enough to handle first class aircraft. The voyage included weather checks and a plan to depart for Fairbanks if conditions allowed.

Post-Rogers team to drag Arctic waters for Soviet plane
