British Cruiser Danae Departs Gastineau Channel for Prince Rupert
In port since last Saturday afternoon the British cruiser HMS Danae sailed from Gastineau Channel at about 8 this morning. She heads to Prince Rupert to await the arrival of United States Naval Aircraft Squadrons from Westward Alaska and to visit for several days. In port a flurry of dances luncheons teas and ship inspections marked the visit. The Mandarin Ballroom hosted an eight piece British jazz dance band led by Kenneth McLean with wartime airs drawing several hundred listeners and dancers.
