Aerial Mapping To Begin In Southeastern Alaska
The Navy Alaskan Air Mapping Expedition will start photographing the northern area of Southeastern Alaska later this week. Lieut B H Wyatt announced the planes are at Thane dock for overhaul after flying from Petersburg to Juneau. The radio base at Thane is expanding and will be fully active soon linking with Australia, Southern California, and Seattle. Chief photographer A K Peterson travels from Seattle to join the expedition after earlier injury. The U S Navy mine sweeper Gannet will depart Friday on a Lynn Canal flight to aid navigation through photos and will return shortly.
