Mrs. Oksane Stepanovna Kosenkina a 52 year old Russian school teacher injured when she jumped from a widow of the Soviet Consulate was placed in protective custody by the U S government after accepting a subpoena to testify before the House Un American Activities Committee Investigators served the subpoena at her Roosevelt Hospital bedside The visit lasted about ten minutes FBI State Department and city police discussed the case with U S Attorney McGahey Meanwhile Soviet officials accused U S intelligence of violating international law by entering the Soviet Consulate in New York after the incident

Governor Ernest Gruening and Alaska Development Board Consul tant George Sundborg returned to Juneau after a week of meetings in Anchorage. The ADB and Interior committee discussed housing needs, wood and cement supply, and a potential Third Division housing program. A two hour radio forum aired with 25 Anchorage citizens, and a land withdrawal protest to the Interior was raised regarding Kenai and Dunbar. The next board meeting will be in Nome in September.

Moose Game Triumph Over Legion In Final Meeting
A makeshift Moose lineup defeated the Legion 10-4 in the last game of the season. Bud Brown starred, playing second for the Legion and center field for the Mooses in the first inning. Cannery Employee Dies at Hospital
Felix Medrano a 49 year old Filipino cannery worker died at 6 Velock this morning at St. Ann's Hospital. Medrano assistant to the Filipino forman at the Todd cannery operated by Nick Bez was enroute to his home in Seattle when he became worse and was hospitalized here. Born in Washington he is survived by his widow a Seattle resident. Funeral arrangements are pending from his relatives Charles W. Carter Chapel said today.

AFL Accuses CIO Dockmen of Unfair Labor Charges
Ketchikan August 14 The AFL in Alaska filed unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB against the Douglas Cannery Corporation and plans similar charges against the CTO Longshoremen in Juneau. Kenneth Bowman APL representative reports the cannery dispute centers on a signed agreeable contract later repudiated by the company and alleged good faith bargaining failure. The Longshoremen case alleges intimidation to coerce cannery workers into joining another union. Bowman expects NLRB findings to support the charges. he will return to Juneau next week.
