Plans centered on a Holland landing with possible Dutch support to force a second front, though no decision was reached and U S cooperation remained only informal.

The House approved an 18 month extension of service for conscripts National Guardsmen reservists and regulars plus a $10 monthly bonus after a year of service. The bill removes the 900000 total conscript cap and goes to a conference committee for differences with the Senate.
A nationwide Bell Telephone System strike threat looms as the Association of Communication and Equipment Workers reports 13 city locals have authorized a strike in dispute with Bell Company and Western Electric. About 8,000 Western Electric installation workers could halt private Bell System installations in military camps and defense plants nationwide.
