A Mainichi Shimbun dispatch from Osaka alleges United States actions at Manila Naval Base violate the Washigton treaty. The report claims convicts serving life terms from the United States are used for the construction work and cites an escaped convict as authority.
Kansas City August 12 Sheriff Thomas Nash with his wife and Deputy Hodge chased a large car whose occupants fired on them and a bystander. The sheriff killed two assailants Gus Fasons and Sam Mogg. Deputy Hodges captured Ferris Anthon. The wounded bystander Charles Garotta was unharmed and questioned. The dead and captured men were linked to a Chicago alcohol ring.
Dublin August 12 Gen Owen O Duffy organizer of the Blue Shirted National Guard cancelled a Sunday parade honoring Arthur Griffith Michael Collins and Keven O Higgins after a government order banned the demonstration Fear of violence followed the move The parade is rescheduled for one week hence
One hundred thirty farmers and their wives from the East and Middle WestStates will arrive in Juneau tomorrow morning aboard the steamer Alaska. They will tour the city area for hours and visit farms on the Pride Cove road and in Eagle River Valley.
Thousands cheered Gen Balbo and crew as the Italian seaplane armada completed a 12 500 mile flight from Lisbon to Chicago with a Rome welcome. The fleet arrived at Fiumicino to a balcony salute and scenes of pilots embracing families at dusk.

Nacelle also sustained minor injuries. Cosyns plans repairs if feasible for a future ascent accompanied by Prof. August Picard.
In Salisbury Maryland this forenoon a Pennsylvania railroad passenger train derailed after hitting a loosened rail. Engineer Oscar Brown died along with an unidentified man riding the baggage car rods. Five others were injured as cars toppled and overturned.
Rome reports Italy now has a nearly self sufficient banana garden in its East Africa colony. Government figures show boosted cultivation in Italian Somaliland raised the 1933 yield to 18,000 tons, about 24 times 1930, worth around $850,000.
Forecasts say NRA may clash with industries as wage and hour disputes loom. Lansing officials say clam fishing is rising with business activity. In seven months of this year the Michigan department granted 22 clam fishing licenses, compared to 190 licenses in the same period last year.

Two children Arlene Ekerl eight and Don 10 died in a ranch house fire in Great Falls Montana while their father worked at a distant field. Richard eleven was badly burned trying to save them. The mother was away visiting in the East.
Helene W. L. Albrecht has closed offices in the Goldstein Building while on a combined pleasure and business trip to Puget Sound. She travels aboard the Prince of Wales to Seattle and expects to return to Juneau in two or three weeks.
Territorial engineer William A. Hesse sails aboard the Northland car Sitka on a business visit. He travels as part of official duties to assess fogineer matters and conduct field work during the trip.
Government issues directives tying federal contracts to compliance with NIRA codes. Telegraphed instructions from Washington to the Forest Service set eligibility rules, throttling purchases from noncompliant firms and outlining wage and hour limits for sub stores and retailers. The order is effective immediately and may extend to open market purchases.
George Haines 18 was arrested yesterday by Deputy U S Marshal J Sullivan on a charge of destroying personal property. He was tried in the United States Commissioner’s Court and sentenced to three months in the local Federal jail upon conviction.

Renfro is a University of Arkansas alumnus who later coached at Jone sboro High School. Mrs J J Connors and her daughter Patricia plan a three months visit by train to Sun, nydale California and other Southern California towns.
