Grigsby Opens Campaign for Alaska Delegate George Grigsby to address constituents at mass meetings in Thane Perseverance Juneau next week detailing his stewardship in Congress and the issues facing Alaska.
Washington officials announced new freight rates and passenger fares will take effect August 26 for passengers and August 25 for freight instead of the earlier dates. The railroads will also seek approval from Canadian commissioners to apply the new rates to shipments from the United States to Canada.
Washington August 11 Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels today approved the purchase of expensive additional mechanical equipment to facilitate development of navy coal fields in Alaska. Buildings already under construction in the Chickaloon fields to house miners and the employment of geological experts and miners to augment the force at work were also formally authorized.

London dispatch reports Bolshevik terms for a Poland armistice require Poland to shrink its army to 10,000 within a month and hand over all arms, with demobilization of munition industries and no foreign troops or materiel allowed. In return Russia agrees to withdraw from the Polish front and cut its forces on the front.
Premier David Lloyd George outlined Britain's policy in the Polish crisis to the House of Commons yesterday. He said the British government supported Poland in defending its borders against Bolshevik aggression and emphasized coordinated Allied efforts to secure stability in Eastern Europe.
