Harriet Babe Hansen aged 50 has won Boise County Republican nominating for sheriff. If she wins in the fall, she would become Idaho’s first woman sheriff. Hansen, a former WAC sergeant and guide, topped 145 votes across eight of Boise County’s ten precincts over challengers Charles Newell and John Rynearson. She operates a ranch on the Salmon River and is known as a top marksman having killed 75 cougars.
