Sitka Lad Held for Murder in First Degree
Thirteen year old Chris Didrickson of Sitka faces a grand jury on a murder charge after confessing to fatally stabbing his playmate Dade Ward who had called him a big Siwash. The confession followed his transfer from Sitka by U S Marshal William Mahoney under juvenile jurisdiction waived by the U S Commissionery. The crime occurred in the Didrickson yard near Dog Creek and the body was found by Billy Lawrence III at 11:30 the following morning. Ward’s home and Didrickson residence lie on Didrickson Street.

Bomber Crashes Near Long Beach Killing Six
An Amy Air Forces B 25 bomber crashed in flames three miles southeast of the Long Beach Army Air Field in overcast weather. Five or six aboard were killed with two survivors.
