He expressed concern over fellow Democrat George Brennast near death and planned to return to New York and Albany to resume campaigning after a brief three day stay.
Grand Forks, N. D. Aug 1 The prospect of Ben Eielson flying across the Pacific to Tokyo is under renewed consideration by Eielson while resting at his home. No public statement has been made but reports indicate Pacific flight is being weighed by Eielson and Detroit interests and could affect his decision on joining Wilkins on the South Pole expedition.
California angler Herbert Hoover travels to the Mount Shasta region seeking better trout fishing after a poor day in Klamath. He reports a good catch but rainbows were too small to provide real sport.
New York Aug 1 Senator George H L Moses said the Republican Party will wage a vigorous fight for the Solid South electoral votes reversing a recent stand that such a campaign would be unwise He noted encouraging letters from the South and said Hoover had a splendid chance for victory there Moses who visited New Jersey said he found the same trouble there but was optimistic about Minnesota and Illinois being safe and warned by an observer to watch Michigan
In Houston Lemus on August 19 and August 12, 12 negro church choirs compete at Sam Houston Hall, first use since Alfred E. Smith's nomination. One group of 49 voices may have edge, having sung for the Democrats as delegates took their seats.
In Greeneville Maine a fleet of 26 motor craft known as boom jumpers operates on large lakes to aid log rafts circled by Tong log booms.
