Cornell College launches ten year twelve million development plan

Cornell College announces a ten year fund of 12 million dollars to raise enrollment to 1,000, expand facilities and improve programs. Fred Laughton and William L. Prince lead the campaign with two new housing halls a commons building a renovated library a fine arts complex and chapel renovations scheduled along with campus improvements.

Oratorio Society Plans Regular Meeting for Students

The Oratorio Society will meet Monday at 7 15 p m in the lower chapel. All students may attend without prior singing experience as the chorus rehearses for a spring concert with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Pauley Hall Dedication Set for Homecoming Day

Pauley Hall, the new men’s dormitory, will be formally dedicated after the Homecoming football game on Oct 19. Named for the late Mr and Mrs C O Pauley, occupancy is not expected until late November. Pauley, 84, was Cornell Board of Trustees vice president who died Sept 14 in Evanston NJ. Mrs Pauley, Maud Strobel, died Aug 12. The couple, early Cornell alumni, supported many college projects including a $50 000 gift to the Field House in 1952 and Brackett House refurbishing.

Freshmen election filings heat up as primary nears

Freshmen race with 22 candidates for five freshman class offices including president and vice president. A candidates meeting is set for Sept 30 in the Social Center at 7 30 pm. Primary voting on Oct 1 with final ballots on Oct 3. Notables include Bob Chapman Ferguson Mo and Dave Clayton Park Forest Ill among presidential hopefuls.

Cornell Student Council Meets Sets Homecoming Plans

The first council meeting discussed Homecoming themes and activities. Plans to use the Field House for the Homecoming dance and a torchlit parade Friday evening were proposed as tentative. Campus Chest Week and a potential Religious Life Council voting representative were also addressed.

New Foreign and Transfer Students Enroll at Cornell

Seventeen new foreign and transfer students join Cornell for the 1963 64 academic year. The list includes George Catsiapis from Greece Ichieh Chang from Egypt Michael Inn from Hong Kong Dhansukh Naik from Northern Rhodesia Jorge Perez Guillermo from Cuba Gilberto Martorell Marques from Puerto Rico and transfers Ronald Crabtree from Northwestern Al Denher t Rita Fandrich James Hardy John Headley Wayne Hibbs Harmon Hosch Cynthia Lardinois David Meyer Kenneth O Hare Phylis Weeks. AWS and men’s senate hosted a dinner September 24 in the social center grill Bud Beamer introduced the students Perez Martinez spoke for the group.

Amateur Art Show To Start October 4

The Fifth Annual Social Center Amateur Art show runs October 4 to 29 with divisions in oils watercolors pastels and graphics. Exhibits due October 1 from faculty and Cornellians. Prizes include 15 for best, 5 per division best, 2.50 second per division, and third place ribbons. Wilber West heads judging with Hugh Lifson and Mrs. R. T. McGlaughlin assisting.
