Hilltop Hails Open For 97th Session
Cornell College reports 731 students enrolled at noon on Wednesday 400 men and 331 women. Dean Dr. Jay B. MacGregor notes enrollment nears a normal postwar figure with 225 freshmen 214 sophomores 117 juniors 166 seniors and 400 total specials. Campus improvements include road sealing track upgrades tennis courts and new maintenance shop.

Plans To Observe Cornell Centenary In 1953
Cornell will mark 100 years in 1953 with a national centennial observance. A Centennial Fund will fund scholarships, teachers salaries, library and physical education facilities and general needs through alumni and friend gifts. A special scroll will honor $100 plus donors on campus in November 1953.

Season Tickets On Sale For Cedar Rapids Concert Series
Student season tickets for the Cedar Rapids Community Concert Association are available in the Conservatory office until September 26. The $3.00 ticket covers four concerts at the Paramount Theatre Cedar Rapids starting September 28 with The Revelers and January 16 with pianist Richard Curzon.

During freshman week a poll by the United World Federalists shows most respondents want to help improve the world situation and join a constructive UWF program. Those interested will be contacted to participate in activities, and the first meeting is planned for October 5 with plans and projects to be discussed. Smallest Voice In Iowa Radio Resumes at Cornell College
KRNL the student operated radio of Cornell College resumes operations Monday with plans for more original shows than ever. Leon Lubinsky announces returning favorites like After Hours and My Favorite Records, plus new series including U. S. Marine Band and The Man On The Street. Stan Monkman plans a weekly 15 minute program. Jim Eastman invites more volunteers. Daily broadcast runs 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. except weekends, with Sunrise Serenade in the morning and chapel exercises air time. The year’s staff includes Lubinsky, Ingram, Armstrong, Eastman, and Miss Walker.

New College Drinking Rule Proposed by Community Spirit Conference
A freshmen week conference led by the Student Council and including six faculty members and college leaders proposes a campus drinking rule. The policy bans alcohol at or related to college events and calls for disciplinary action up to dismissal for violations. A new Intergroup Relations clinic is also planned to improve campus communication.

Faculty approves inter group clinic and observer seats
At the first regular meeting the faculty voted to cooperate in an inter group election clinic and to admit student observers to curriculum and personnel committees. Two students will be named by the Student Council to participate with voice but no vote on committee affairs. The Liaison Committee was re formed with Lois Henderson, Joseph T. The council proposes three purposes an advisory role for community problems to spot trouble spots and to foster intergroup therapy.
