Big mass meeting planned to send Knox to Galesburg Illinois for a hard schedule game with Cornell. The Knox student notes Cornell as a tough rival with a storied season, predicting a close, fierce scrappy contest with both teams aiming to set a strong pace.
Mr. Elder, traveling secretary of the Intercollegiate Prohibition association, assisted in reorganizing the local league in Mount Vernon. A meeting in Association hall elected President Herbert Peet, Vice-president Chalmer Richardson, secretary-treasurer Oscar Anderson, and reporter J. E B. Lodge for the current academic year. Members may inquire with officers about the J. L. Tennant Oratorical contest.
Cornell meets Knox at Galesburg in the first football contest of the day as a slate of games draws interest across the 16 WA Conference.
Finger has the squad primed for the Iowa rematch with a mass meeting and royal send off planned. The group will likely depart Friday and stay overnight in Galesburg to shorten travel before the game. The lineup resembles the Iowa game, but starting choices remain unsettled. E B Lane 10 has moved to Chicago to study at the graduate school of the University of Chicago with Mrs Lane at 5815 Drexel Avenue.
Knox defeats Cornell 20 to 7 after a fumbled kickoff return and strong fourth quarter. Scott fumbled early but Knox tied the game 7 7, Harshbarger interception for Cornell and Gates’ late score seal the win. Reitzel Golden and Gates Powelson Rossem noted as standouts. Rickly refereed. Mr Aylesworth a senior conservatory student and former orchestra soloist, presented a voice recital with Miss McCullough reading Christmas Time and When Melinda Sings to an attentive Amphictyons audience. The program featured Handel Reichardt Homer Von Fielitz selections and a Bren reading.
Northwestern students staged a rambunctious rush night for the Amphictyon Literary Society at Cedar Rapids and the Majestic Theatre. Freshmen entertained, coats tagged with Amphic Doings, and a special extra train provided for the crowd. Performances drew strong audience reactions as Kreger and Scheeler received standout recognition.
