Cornell Freshmen Top Monticello High 20 to 0 at Ash Park

The Cornell freshman eleven defeated Monticello High 20 to 0 at Ash Park yesterday. Hartwell Angell and Hooper scored as the yearlings show progress after the Tipton game. Captain Orville Rennie, former Sioux Falls star, led as right tackle and will guide the squad against Clinton in Homecoming morning.

Runners Depart for Iowa City Cross Country Match

Coach Cole led a new freshmen team to Iowa City with Captain Smith Yohe Faust Valencia Kleemeier Searle and Bieber. The Iowa squad included Benjegerdes H D Smith Morrow Ashton Godrich Knoll. The meet starts at 2 30 PM on the 220 yard track and will last about twenty minutes with six scoring runners. A fall track meet for undergraduates with five prizes is planned after the cross country event.

Northwest Iowa Club forms at college

A new group named Northwest Iowa Club claims to be among the largest campus clubs with at least seventy students signed up. Open to all students from listed Iowa counties and northwest beyond the boundary, the club will elect officers once a date is set and join Cornell’s social scene.

Verdant green caps arrive as frosh parade campus

The local clothier reports a rush in the haberdashery as green caps and red buttons arrive for frosh. Freshmen, girls included, appear on campus with green ribbons and the tradition lingers, while upperclassmen greet the sight with mixed relief and humor.

Prof. O. H. Smith of the Physics department will address the Science section of the State Teachers Association convention on Recent Developments in Physics. The event is set for Des Moines from November 3 to 5.

Miss Phelps to Tell War Experiences at Altoona

Miss Phelps will narrate her war experiences Sunday night at the Altoona Firelight Story Hour at 9 o'clock. Last Sunday she spoke to the girls at Guildhall. Dr Flint goes to Chicago for a short business trip and returns Saturday. Harry Eastman and Jonathan Lister are at their Newton homes this weekend.

Evens Beat Odds in Season Opener Hockey Clash

The Evens defeated the Odds by one point in a closely fought season opener at 8 30 this morning. Lois Miller scored all three Evens goals while Gladys Sherk starred for the Odds. Freshmen cheer squads energized the crowd as teams seek more players and improved passing for the championship series.

Frances Crowell Recital Opens Junior Series

Frances Crowell presented The Faraway Princess in a debut junior recital of the expression department. The one act translated German play impressed with simple, artistic reading and a charming princess performance. Future recitals are set in the lower chapel at four o clock biweekly.

Interclass football action is organized to begin within days. The sophomore team led by Weisley has trained hard and aims for the championship, while the seniors promise a strong challenge and the juniors plan to join next week as practices begin and games are scheduled.
