Cornell Orchestra Set for Parents Day and Fall Concert
The Cornell college orchestra will present its initial Parents Day program on Saturday Oct 22 with a Nov 13 Fall concert to follow. The 1949-50 season adds community players. a 33-member smaller touring group will perform in Illinois and Iowa late April. The full ensemble has 55 rehearsals each Monday. the smaller group carries two rehearsals weekly. Featured soloist Crete McCollister will perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor in November with Mt. Vernon residents and two high school students taking part in activities this year. Thanksgiving Play Set For November 18 and 19
Dick Willis directs this year’s Thanksgiving production Ethan Frome to be staged Friday and Saturday November 18 and 19. The adaptation of Edith Wharton’s novel features a large cast with Jim Boylan in the title role and Lois White as stage manager. Cleanth Brooks to Lecture at Cornell on New Criticism
Yale professor Cleanth Brooks will lecture Friday evening October 28 in King Memorial chapel on Milton and the New Criticism.
