Charles Christianson elected president of a Cox Roosevelt club at Cornell to back the league issue in the campaign. The group, largely professors and students, meets Wednesdays at 6 40 pm in the YMCA chapel to discuss league matters and other campaign topics. Membership lists numerous names among faculty and students.
The Cornell cross country season opens with a four mile Ink's Pond workout led by Schell. Coach Finger plans races against Iowa on November 6 and negotiations with Grinnell for a meet on the Grinnell game day. The team aims to improve times and avenge last year's Iowa defeat.

Professor Charles R. Keyes of Cornell college spoke at the Sioux City public library on The Cultural Areas of the Early Iowa Indian before about 100 people. He stated Iowa comprises four cultural regions: northeast Davenport middle and northwest, each with distinct artifacts. The northeast district is known for remarkable animal effigies made of dirt, representing various animals.
At a Jordan House dinner last Wednesday, 15 faculty members debated election stances. Results showed 11 Democratic, 0 Republican, and 0 Uncertain among those voting, with many Democrats also Republicans in practice. A professor urged informed, independent voting beyond family history and party labels.
The 1920 Cornell Artist Course starts next Tuesday at 8 PM with a Lam bert Murphy tenor recital. Murphy, famed from the 1917 May Festival, draws large advance sales though seats remain for the full course at 3 and 2 dollars. Single tickets priced 1.50 and 1 dollar go on sale early next week.
Lambert Murphy, Harvard graduate and former Met Opera soloist, headlines a Tuesday night recital with a program including Deeper and Deeper Still and Voir Griselidis among others. Accompanist is Charles Albert Baker.
Iowa schedule features Ames facing Grinnell and Cornell meeting Iowa while Yankton plays Morningside. Other matchups include Monmouth versus Coe and Buena Vista against Teachers. Midwest rivals Drake host Illinois and Purdue plays Chicago.
The Victors of the Tug of War challenge the class of 1924 to a football game at nine o'clock Saturday morning October 16 1920. No Varsity or freshman Varsity players may participate. If rules issues arise, consult class presidents.
The Cornell Y M C A announces a finance drive for next week to raise funds for yearly activities. Cabinet reports a strong start this year after a brisk opening week with a stag, freshmen joints re initiated, and three Thursday meetings showing vigorous promotion.
Presidents of twelve literary societies agreed last year to ban frosh rushing this year and extend the honor code to both upperclassmen and freshmen. Prof Tull chairs the enforcement by a governing court if violations occur. The plan aims to build class spirit while letting freshmen evaluate societies and candidates over a year.
Iowa defeated Cornell 63 to 0 as first string played most of the game and then the second string in the second half. Peters on fumble return, Huddleson and Finger notes, Iowa dominance with forward passes and a late safety. Referee Reid.
The Y W girls stage a two night benefit showing of The Isle of Conquest at the Liberty Theatre next Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr West donates half of prepaid ticket sales to the fundraiser. Buy tickets early to support the project and enjoy a good show.
The Republican Club of Cornell College invites members to a Wednesday 6:40 PM meeting in Adelphian hall. The program includes party platform comparisons, a voter education talk, songs, and a paper on the 66th Congress. Fifty-two members now belong, with outreach for undecided voters.
