Cornell G. O. P. Club Organizes at College

The Cornell College Republican Club held its first meeting of the year with 42 members, more women than men, backing Harding and Coolidge. Officers elected were Craig Overholser president and Helen Dunne secretary. Committees on Publicity, Entertainment, and Resolutions named, with weekly meetings set for Wednesdays at 6:40 to 7:30. Charter members listed include Lowell Henshaw Myrtle Keener A. K. Jenson Ruth Jordan and others.

Fourth French student arrives at Cornell to teach

Cornell welcomes Mile. Lydia Jeane Michel as the fourth French instructor in the Romance Languages Department under Professor Herrick. She will teach a two hour course in conversational French and sit with American students in Altoona dormitory to promote spoken French. Michel hails from Albertville in Savoy and studied at the Feminine Technology College in Paris.

Illinoisans Opened Their Social Year At Ristine Home

Last Friday evening the Ristine home opened to all Illinoisans of the college for a three part program. The first part featured social games and stunts to help members become acquainted. A hearty feed was served by a capable committee. A brief business meeting elected Winthrop Olmsted as President Helen Stone as Vice President Grace McCreedy as Secretary and Saegle as Treasurer. The club lists about seventy five members and plans further activities for the year.

Debating Prospects For Carleton Grinnell And Cornell

Professor Ralph E Himstead notes limited experienced debaters but good material at the college. The triangular debate includes Carleton Grinnell and Cornell with Carleton's negative team expected to come here. Preliminary tryouts begin in December with finals in January after Christmas recess.

Two Houses Fall to Smiley In Fast Tennis Tourney

In a brisk match on a rough court, Smiley House Tigers defeated Mathews House 6-2 6-1 6-3. Dickey dominated serves and Kerwin placed well as Seagle and G Sones fought bravely for Mathews House.

Devereux Players Stage Ghosts On Cornell Campus

The Devereux Players presented Ibsen's Ghosts on the Cornell campus drawing a five hundred strong audience. Mr Devereux as Oswald and Miss Graf as Mrs Alving received particular praise for mastery and emotional range while Edmund Forde and Pilson also earned commendation for their supporting roles.

Cornell Pep Meeting in Chapel Friday at 6 40

A Cornell pep meeting will be held Friday evening at 6 40 in the chapel led by newly appointed cheerleader Ed wards. The band will play and several speakers and stunt makers will participate to energize students, academy and faculty for the Iowa game Saturday afternoon.

Faculty Frolic at Cornell Ends in Hilarious Tug War

Forty nine Cornell faculty members and wives gathered at the Palisades for a day of feasting and stunts. The highlight was a tug of war between old and new faculty, with the ropes snapping and both sides claiming victory. A barrel substituted for Ink's Pond and a knot tied by the administration failed, sending most contestants sprawling before a second pull led to the new faculty securing an apparent win.

Preacher's Kids Club Forms At Cornell College

A new organization named the Preacher's Kids Club was founded Tuesday evening to unite ministers' children at Cornell College. Elected officers include President Day Newsome and Vice President Payson Peterson with Secretary Ora Lent. Nelson Hebner of 718 Indianapolis Anglitical laboratory is expected to lead his department soon.
