Glee Club Opens Its Year with New Director and Tryouts

The Glee Club has begun its year by hiring Prof. Ernest Zechiel to direct the group. Many men auditioned Thursday and several showed strong potential to replace departing members. The club plans two trips, one over Christmas and one during Spring vacation, and aims for a December concert program. Gerald Smith leads as president with Hayden Swain as vice president and Marsee Evans as treasurer, Tracy Thompson as secretary.

Artists Recital Course Announces Three Performers

The program features Jenny Dufau of the Chicago Philadelphia Opera company in a November 11 voice recital. Thuel Burnham will give a piano recital with four New York engagements, and Ludwig Becker will perform October 21 as a former Thomas Orchestra concertmeister. Course tickets cost 1.50 with singles 75 and 50 cents.

At the mass meeting last night the Pep Club elected Clyde Ryan to fill the junior membership vacancy. Ryan received 87 votes to 30 for Trease, with a large portion of the student body not voting.
