Bowman Hall hosts a spirited pep gathering as about one hundred women sing Cornell songs and yell for the Coe game. The male diners join in, waiters climb chairs, and Dean Madison praises the event for its orderly enthusiasm.
Dean H. H. Freer, badly injured when struck by a car in Cedar Rapids a couple of weeks ago, is steadily improving and expects to be discharged to go home early next week from the hospital.
The Pep Club at Idwa works overtime planning Homecoming events and the college anniversary observed Friday November 14. Alumni notices and Homecoming cards are out, with a Students' Mix after the game likely. Faculty also asked the club to oversee an anniversary program in the auditorium with faculty and student speeches.
Dr. George H Betts class results show secular figures Cromwell to Douglas averaging 80 percent while biblical figures from Joseph to Samson averaged 86 percent. Students wrote about what each figure suggested in a historical incident or movement.
The second departmental recital in association hall drew a good crowd. Grace Byerly offered The Returning of the White Swan with promise, Burna McCullough performed The Defense of Jocelyn Lee with impressiveness, and Bessie Chipman closed with An Absent Guest in a charming style. Recitals occur every two weeks to show student progress.
Professor Bernard Lambert and his wife lost household goods and a library valued at 2000 in a fire that destroyed the gymnasium building at the University of Puget Sound where they had stored items for the summer. He thanks associates and friends for generous help and notes their home is again supplied with necessities and luxuries.
