May Festival Delights Big Assemblage
Lloyd Starr reports a capacity crowd at the forty third annual May music festival held in the chapel. Highlights include Alexander Kipnis singing native Russian songs and Dr. Frederick Stock leading the Chicago Symphony in a Brahms program with Kathryn Witwer and Bruce Foote. The final night featured Gluck, Bruckner and Wagner pieces ending with Pomp and Circumstance as audiences were urged to drink buttermilk before departure.

Men Senate Awards Honor Ten Cornell Students In Chapel
Ten Cornell University students were honored Wednesday morning in a chapel ceremony for leadership, citizenship and campus participation. Seniors Cabot Wohlrabe Bob Osburn and Charles Spletter Juniors Melvin Hetland Elton Nelson William McKinlay Gayle Howery Robert Michaelson Sophomores Walter Haloupek Sedgwick Manson received Men’s Senate keys. McKinlay, as new Senate president, noted recipients self-selected by submitting blanks for the panel’s choice. The Bob Murray award was also presented at the ceremony.

Geology field trip at Cornell repeats popular Rocky Mountain course
Plans are underway for Cornell College geology field course in Wyoming's Wind River region this August. Dr. Neil Miner leads a team with Knox College's David Delo and Dartmouth's Warren Scobey guiding about 25 students from Knox Carleton Lawrence Southern Methodist Dartmouth Beloit and Cornell. The program includes elementary and advanced work with observation, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, rodeo and log cabin facilities. Wallace Littell wins the third annual medal in memory of a Cornell athlete killed in a 1939 auto accident. Dean King closes the program with remarks for Cornell men entering service.

Hoover Returns for Charlie's Aunt at Cornell Summer Theatre
Stage work is underway for Charlie's Aunt at the Cornell Summer Theatre opening June 19 as part of the eighth annual festival. The venue, famous as the first summer theatre west of the Mississippi, began in 1934 with a Carnival of Comedy and has since presented cycles of farce and comedy drawing audiences from across the Midwest and beyond.

Bleeker Reinke Senior Recital Set for Tuesday Evening

The eighty eighth annual commencement at Cornell runs June 7 through June 8 and includes 1156 seniors. Magee to deliver baccalaureate address with Bishop Holt as commencement speaker.
