Dick Hanley to Speak at Mixer Next Week

Northwestern University head football coach Dick Hanley will address the fourth annual Men’s Mixer, a senior high school men’s celebration, next Wednesday after sport events at 2 pm and a 6 pm dinner at the Methodist Episcopal church basement.

Women to Compete in Group Contests Track meet planned for next Tuesday

The annual group track meet will be held next Tuesday afternoon. Varsity athletes are ineligible, but many group members are expected to compete. Relays will involve members of the women's groups as part of the event.

Last Cornell Spring Frolic to close season

The Spring Frolic featuring the Society Night Club Band will be held in the gym at 8 p m Saturday. It is the year’s final dance and will be informal with punch and programmes for attendees. Evelyn Cullumber and Helen Scott lead arrangements. admission is fifty cents and a dance permit.

Students Win Oratory Prizes in Ives Contest

Clarence Richardson won first in the finals with Ecclesiastical Disarmament. Walter Ratcliffe took second for Heroes of Peace and Francis Ellis spoke on Baptist Leader. Other contestants included Hugh Chance and Robert Leewright. Judges were Carl Becker Charles Hedges and Rabbi Schenk with Dr. J. B. Culbertson as chairman.

Shaffer Talks Chemistry To Advanced Students At Baytown

Dr Sherman S Shaffer of Baytown Texas and Vera Phelps Shaffer visited the campus to address advanced chemistry students. Shaffer outlined crude oil separation methods including continuous and vacuum stills cracking and liquid sulphur dioxide refining. He described solving a metal corrosion problem in stills showing theory applied to practice.

The high school alumni banquet featured a performance of Don Juan written by Jére Annis. George Tracy played two piano solos while Hildred Colon and Elva Colton performed a dancing act. Tuesday's Cornellian will be the final issue for the year. The fall edition will resume under Opal Lybarger as Editor in Chief, Donald George as assistant editor, and Wayne Buchanan as business manager. The new staff has already begun taking over many duties.
