Navy Academic Refresher Unit Arrives at Hilltop Campus

President Cole announced a Navy Academic Refresher Unit will be housed on the Hilltop starting July 13 or 27. The program, for Navy personnel and civilian inductees, will run 8 to 24 weeks with 50 to 60 hours weekly of classes and labs, featuring English math physics and military drill.

MacGregor Debuts in Who's Who With New Honor

Cor nell dean and psychology professor Dean Jay B. MacGregor is listed for the first time in the 1944-45 Who's Who in America. The Atlantic Iowa native earned a B A from Grinnell and M A Ph D from Iowa, taught at Mason City and James Millikin, served in WWI, and led education at Eastern Illinois and Mason City junior college.

MacLaughlin Lauded by John Dewey for Education Work

Dr Samuel J. McLaughlin received a letter from philosopher John Dewey praising his and his students work in the Ed Echo education department magazine. Dewey also applauds McLaughlin's May 1944 Progressive Education article Youth Demands a Change and notes admiration for the Tree of Knowledge penned by Marion White.

Leahy Heads Four Day Commencement Plans

Alumni week outlines four day events for the class of 1894 led by J M Macaulay with reunions at Pfeiffer Lounge Salute to Cornellians in the chapel and an alumni banquet at the Methodist church. Keyes and Yoran organized the golden anniversary reunion with Rood House as headquarters and guests from California reserved for meals and socials. Seniors may retrieve freshman themes Friday at South Hall room 14 before commencement.

Cornell 91st commencement week begins with trustees meet and memorial

The 91st Cornell commencement week opens Friday June 2 with a board of trustees meeting at 9 30 am and a memorial service for Dr William Harmon Norton at 4 pm Saturday marks alumni day with class reunions including 1894 golden anniversary and 1919 silver anniversary celebrants. J M Macauley urges seniors to call for tickets May 29 for all events and arrange overnight accommodations.

Iphigenia in Aulis to open two day campus event

Admiral William D Leahy will give the commencement address as fifty five seniors receive degrees Sunday June 5 at 10 a m in the Chapel. Earlier the Iphigenia in Aulis stage production features Marian Hatfield as Iphigenia and Peg Newberg as Achilles with a chorus of freshmen. a Salute to Cornellians in Service service and alumni events precede the ceremony.
