The Royal Purple announces a distribution day on Monday May 27. The cartoon shown promises a massive spectacle, with the upcoming first showing described as an explosion of excitement compared to the student depiction.
Bill Dean announces the Cornell Young Democratic club executive committee members including Jane Courson Sheldon Harris Dave Hoare Bob Hoopes Don Jackson Rita Lechner Bob Nelson and Frank Nelick. The group aims to boost student voting and provide information on state voting laws and absentee ballots.
Rosie Munro from the freshman class contributed standout cartoon work for the annual. The book, bound by Brock and Rankin in Chicago, should reach the campus on May 27 if on schedule. It includes page numbering and an index listing student names and picture pages.
Professor Maynard C. Krueger of the University of Chicago, Socialist vice presidential candidate, visits Cornell next Monday for a campus chapel appearance after stops at Wisconsin. He is noted for economics and labor work and will also speak on WMIT at 3 30 pm and at a Cedar Rapids mass meeting.
Dr Frederick Stock hinted at Cornell Oratorio Society possibly traveling to Chicago to perform Bach Mass in Orchestra Hall next winter as part of celebrations for the Chicago Symphony's golden anniversary and the May Festival's fortieth year. No firm plans yet, but Stock showed enthusiasm.
Mary Henaman is named by a secret committee as the college girl most like the 1890s star Lillian Russell. She becomes Miss Lillian Russell of 1940 and leads the premiere ball grand march with Cesar Romero after a Clinton world premiere week. Don Ameche announced the winner.
A nostalgia piece recounts the 1924 Cornellian year at the college. Miss Betts becomes first Dean of Women and Altoona dormitory allows coed dining. Students clip grass near Cornell letters, publish Around the Campus, and Polly Wallace coaches football. A night photography trend and four editorials argue for dancing with 75 percent approving.

Carol Boehmer won first in contemporary affairs and placed high in general culture at Phi Beta Kappa exams for 169 Cornell students. Vern Panzer, John Granger and Robert Nelson also scored in general culture with John MacGregor, John Granger and Quentin Joy leading contemporary affairs. Prizes ranged from 2 to 10 dollars in each division, with a 10 dollar books grand prize awarded to the top combined score.
President Magee addressed the Twin Cities alumni at the Town and Country club in St Paul Tuesday night and will speak at an alumni dinner for Cornellians in Storm Lake Iowa on May 23 where he will deliver a commencement address at Storm Lake High School.
