The Orchesis club and Interpretative Dancing class present a recital in the big gym on Thursday May 14 at 8 00 p m. Admission is by ticket only with no charge. Sargent Praises Cornell Hilltop in Cornerstone Ceremony
Fred W. Sargent president of the Chicago and North Western railway and Cornell college trustee spoke at Mount Vernon Iowa during the cornerstone laying for Merner hall after the May Festival. He praised the setting and noted plans for a dormitory to be ready by fall for the 1936 37 year with Dr Frank Cole delivering the invocation.

Miss Margaret Taylor head resident of Altoona hall will be matron when Merner hall opens next fall announced by Pres. H. J. Burgstahler. Taylor has served Altoona as head resident for two years and was previously a faculty member at Cornell academy from 1909 to 1918 and principal there for two years.

Weavers Ready New Boiler At Cornell Heating Plant
Cornell's heating system will gain a new boiler as Merner hall construction proceeds. EF W Weaver and son W F Weaver, aided by J J Jones, operate three Freeman boilers delivering 24 hour heat. The plant, built in 1916, uses eight tons of coal daily and recirculates water from twelve buildings.

Hallams to Broadcast Preview of Purple Masquer Play
The Hallams will air a half hour preview of Rose Franken's Another Language next Tuesday afternoon on WMT Cedar Rapids. The College League of the Mount Vernon Methodist church re organized from Cedar an Epworth League under the Methodist Board of Education in Chicago. Skating Rink Opens At Ash Park This Week
Ash Park skating rink opens to the public with two daily sessions from 7 30 to 9 and 9 to 10. Student admission is 15 cents for the first session and 10 cents for the second, or 15 cents for the second if the first is missed. The rink will operate all summer and possibly into next year. Students pay the same price with their own skates.

Prof Cooper declines scholarship while joining Emergency Peace drive
Dr Russell Cooper a history and political science professor rejects a National Council of International Research fellowship worth 2400 for Yale study. He will speak in the Emergency Peace campaign in Marshalltown May 12 Clinton May 15. The campaign aims to keep the U S neutral and promote peaceful alternatives. Catholic Priest Speaks At Chapel Service On Bethlehem
A Protestant Cornellian who became a Catholic priest spoke at the chapel last Sunday morning. The speaker, the Right Reverend Monseigneur D. G. Hunt of the Salt Lake City diocese, now in radio work, argued against using natural science reasoning in spiritual matters and noted a supernatural star of Bethlehem. He was joined by Reverend M. M. Holmann of Hazelton and Monseigneur Malloy of Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids.
