Cornell players stage A Jury of Her Peers on TV
The Cornell college players present an adaptation of Susan Glaspell’s A Jury of Her Peers on WOC-TV Davenport Saturday May 24 at 4 pm. Ric Sanderson directs with Jane Allen Edith Simpelaar Aleen Lettsome Hal Ashmead Doug Ross and Ken Garrity in the cast. Nancy Kirk is script girl Ginny Browning props manager Mike Halberg in costumes. Sanderson recently won the Toppy Tull award for campus contribution and has directed The Mad Woman of Chaillot and Chekhov's The Sea Gull while hosting a KRNL radio show.

Two $100 Statesmen Scholarships awarded to Robert Hoerner and Ann Ruby from the history and political science alumni fund. Hoerner, a debate and forensics leader, is president of the International Relations club. Ruby, Bowman Hall president candidate, majors in history and elementary education and serves in Oratorio society, college band, and local church roles.

Dean and Mrs MacGregor Feted by Faculty Picnic
President Russell D Cole hosts a faculty picnic in the President's garden attended by about 100 faculty and administration. A 25c electricity charge, a Dean’s cigar, Hilltop Music album and Gordon Meyers Cornell song record were given along with a portable phonograph. Fried chicken buffet and a panel discussion in Main Hall followed in the evening.

Chemistry Club and Professors Plan Clinton Plant Tours
Two carloads of Chemistry club members and Dr B Culbertson and Dr Charles D Starr will travel to Clinton on Tuesday morning May 13. They will tour the Clinton Foods plant to observe the manufacture of starch corn syrup and corn oil. In the afternoon they will tour the Du Pont Cellophane plant on a specially arranged schedule.

Faculty and Students Back Eisenhower in Cornell Poll
Cornell faculty and student body favored Eisenhower for President in a recent poll. In a 32 ballot faculty vote Eisenhower led with 14 to Taft's 6 and Kefauver's 6, Warren 1, Harriman 4, McMahon 0. Republican support split 14 to 6 with Democrats and Independents tilting toward Eisenhower. Taft drew most Republican loyalty. Warren emerged as a potential compromise candidate.

CSF Panel to Discuss Art Religion Question

Boone Symphony and Band to Play Here May 11
Boone high school symphony orchestra and concert band will perform in the Cornell chapel at 4 30 Sunday afternoon May 11. Konrad Scholl guest conducts the Cornell orchestra, with no admission charged. Pal Day is postponed to a Lake McBride outing in May with chapel bell at 7 a m and trucks shuttling Cornell students to the lake for meals and activities.

Don Sanderson, a 1949 graduate, earns two University of Wisconsin awards totaling 1350 dollars a 1050 dollar fellowship and a 300 dollar tuition exemption He pursues a doctoral degree in mathematics and education finishing next year He left Cornell for a Caltech teaching assistantship and earned a master's degree He is teaching at University High School Iowa City son of Arlen and Mrs Sanderson his father is a Cornell field representative

Melody Merchants Offer Many Wares at Dance Event

Lumber unloaded for Cornell gymnasium construction
Form lumber has been unloaded at the site of the new Cornell gymnasium by contractor Max Mildenstein of Cedar Rapids. Construction is planned to begin soon after a wage rate agreement is reached between Cedar Rapids contractors and the building trades union.

Editor Bob Morrison said due to technical difficulties the Royal Purple will not be published until September. Cornellians Hurt In Car Crash Near Tama
Bob Staffanau and John Dickenson, both juniors, are hospitalized in Marshalltown with serious injuries after their car rolled over four miles south of Tama on Thursday. Staffanau, suspected driver, is the most seriously hurt. Dickenson suffered lesser injuries.
