Central high dominates 1936 Midwest high school writing contest
Central high school of Minneapolis won three of four prizes in the 1936 Midwest high school creative writing contest conducted by the Cornell English club. Prof Clyde Tull and a judging panel announced the results. First poetry prize went to Betty Lu Schoening with Sonnets for the Young. Belva Richardson took second with Riding in the Rain. Central high also won first and second in prose with Stele Smith’s Wilson's Headache and Lorraine Miller's Man of the Hour.
