Cornell Invitation Track Meet Sets Big Day for Saturday

Next Saturday marks Iowa's largest high school meet at Cornell with about 300 athletes expected. Thirty schools have committed, preliminaries begin at 9 A.M. followed by a Carleton versus Cornell ball game. An afternoon track meet, six o’clock banquet, and a Zetagathian society performance headline the event.

Cornell Man Successful Inventor Designs Concrete Silo

Clarence Elliott, class of 1914, has designed and patented a reinforced concrete silo now on the Idaho market. The device is expected to aid stock raising as the grain season is short and climate allows early ensilage. Elliott’s achievement adds to Cornell’s notable alumni.

Cornell Orator Honored For Interstate Contest Bid

Mr. W. W. Anderson of Cornell won a place in the upcoming interstate oratorical contest at Knox College Galesburg Illinois on May 21 1915 after state elimination. Selections from ten state winners were judged seven passed and three failed. States represented Iowa Indiana Michigan Minnesota Missouri Ohio and Wisconsin.

Rappold Substitutes for Culp at 1915 Music Festival

The 17th Annual Music Festival drew growing crowds with Marie Rappold substituting for Julia Culp who could not perform due to illness. Rappold impressed with tone and encores as Ganz and the Thomas Orchestra and Cornell oratorio society were set to close the program amid favorable reviews and a packed campus audience.
