Cornell College Conservatory Plans Competitive Audition

The Cornell College Conservatory of Music schedules competitive auditions in applied music on May 19 and 20 at Cornell. Sophomore Shakespeare Play The Tempest South Northwestern

The Cornell sophomore class presents The Tempest this Saturday under Prof and Mrs Clyde Tull as part of an annual Shakespearean series. Previous eight years featured Twelfth Night Midsummer Night's Dream Much Ado About Nothing Romeo and Juliet Othello Hamlet Macbeth. The Tempest, a fairy tale toned drama with strong characters and poetry, contrasts with the star system in America and emphasizes forgiveness and wonder as Miranda proclaims.

A Grex program Friday night in the chapel auditorium featured Cornell Symphony Orchestra under Prof Horace Alden Miller with Overture to Sakuntala and Turkey in the Straw. Miss Nama Lathe presented chalk talks titled Let There Be Light and contralto Ruth Pinkerton sang Little Shepherds Song and By the Bend of the River.

Redemption in Cornell Chapel Presented by Cornell Players

Tolstoys Redemption will be staged by the Cornell Players in the chapel on April 21 and 22 under Prof. Albert Franklin Johnson. The production features 40 characters and a large chorus with invitations already sent to the director for broadcasting.
