Four Cornell Seniors Elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honors

Four senior women at Cornell were elected to Phi Beta Kappa for scholarship leadership and character. Blanche Gabrielson of Knoxville Tennessee Jane Hall Casco Wisconsin Martha Jackson Oskaloosa Iowa and Mary Schneider Galva Illinois were named for intellectual merit and contributions to campus life.

Writers Meet At Van Ettens

Writers Club will meet Monday afternoon at four at Mrs Van Ettens. A permanent meeting place to replace the Grill has not yet been decided but will likely be in the new student union.

Choose Play By Johnson Choose Play By Johnson

The Cornell Little Theatre presents the premiere of Days Without Daddy a new comedy by Professor Albert Johnson opening April 28 and 29. Nine men and ten women are needed with five men in light parts and most male roles cast. The plot follows a sailor’s mother a WAC canteen girl and a rookie as a family faces marriage plans amid a mother in law a year old grandson a professor and the unexpected arrival of Daddy.

Delegates Named for Inter national Relations Meet in Nebraska

Delegates selected from Cornell to attend the Mississippi Valley International Relations clubs conference at Midland College in Fremont Nebraska on March 17 and 18. Chosen are Bill Simmer DeWitt Ellinwood Mildred Ortmeyer Jan Challman Ann Evans Blanche Gabrielson and Janet Walter. Bill Simmer serves as chairman of a discussion group on postwar roles of England United States Russia and China. Other Cornell representatives will join group meetings. The debate club invites this conference to be held at Cornell next year.

Bourke-White Describes War Fronts at Cornell Talk

Margaret Bourke-White spoke at Cornell on her war experiences with the AEF. She recalled near-ground Piper Cub dives, observed how engineers and nurses aided the Cassino front, and praised blood plasma. She noted women in service expanding role and urged home front awareness of fascism dangers.

Plans for New Student Social Center Rise After Grill Loss

Classics Conference Set for May 13 on Campus

A Latin conference scheduled for May 13 invites teachers from Iowa western Illinois and nearby states. Professor Walter Agard University of Wisconsin will be the main speaker addressing chapel May 12 and faculty later that day with lectures on post war education and humanities. Other speakers include Clyde Murley Dorrance White and Mars Westington.

Judge Littell Named to National AAUP Council

Judge C. F. Littell is elected among ten educators nationwide to join the National Council of the American Association of University Professors. The council guides policy for about 25,000 members from colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The next council meeting is scheduled for April 14 and 15 in Washington, D.C.

Senate Sponsors Saturday Social With Floor Show At Armstrong Hall

The Men’s Senate hosts a Saturday evening party at eight in Armstrong hall featuring dancing for couples and ping-pong for sports enthusiasts, with a floor-show directed by Henry Fujii and refreshments to follow.
