Flight Training Opens With Weather Hope For Weekend

Flight students at Cornell prepare for first flying-out party as weather may allow. Primary and secondary classes begin tests and maneuvers in new open cockpit Waco ship under instructors Cook and Dunn. Seventeen named cadets and graduates listed from Cornell and nearby colleges. Prof Nelson notes shared nerves as loops spins and rolls delight both instructor and students.

Weekly Meetings To Map Future Athletic Program

Dean McGregor said weekly meetings continue to clarify student minds on future athletics. Six programs in the athletic curriculum require careful cooperation from instructors, considering limited Cornell facilities and coed housing in the gym. The administration will announce a definite plan after thorough review.

On and Off the Hill March Events at Little Theatre

On and Off the Hill debuts Saturday March 15 with two one act plays at the Little Theatre at 2 30 p m. Sunday March 16 offers Marjorie Humby senior voice recital at 7 30 p m in the chapel. Monday March 17 features a student recital in the chapel at 4 15 p m. Cornell broadcasts Thursday March 20 on WSUI from 5 15 to 5 45 p m. Gridiron banquet tickets go on sale in the English office at 1 20 p m. Dorothy Beach and Fredric Taylor give a vocal recital in the chapel at 7.

Dorothy Beach and Fred Taylor to Present Recital

Dorothy Beach and Fredric Taylor will present a joint voice recital on Thursday March 20 at 7 p.m. in King Memorial chapel under Miss Ruth Pinkerton. Dorothy's junior program includes German French and English songs with accompanying by Betty Woods and Raymond Jones. Fredric will sing Schubert Rimsky Korsakov and Wagner selections with accompaniment by p rovider.

Gridiron Banquet Tickets Moved To March 26

The Gridiron Banquet date shifted from March 27 to Wednesday March 26 due to dining room limits. First sale on Thursday March 20 at 1 20 p m English club members have priority. non member tickets follow after members are accommodated. Committees plan the annual frolic razzing banquet sold at a premium by some vendors.

Junior senior dinner and dance set for Saturday night

Cornell students will attend a formal junior senior dinner at Pfeiffer dining hall at 6 pm followed by an 8 15 to 11 30 pm dance in the gym. Seniors enter free as guests of the junior class. Bill Towner leads a post dinner program with mystery decorations and Bill Franey and his orchestra provide the music.

Denims and ginghams Big Country Dance in Marion county

On March 22 the DeCamps will provide tunes for a country dance in Marion county with a professional caller. Admission is 15 cents for 8:00 to 10:30 pm. Free admission for boys and girls without dates. Dorothea Medal and Emily Millett listed as organizers. proceeds support the physical training country dance class. Also this weekend the Cornell Little Theatre hosts a matinee of one act plays by Anamosa and Davenport high schools with no admission charge.

Soprano Marjorie Humby will present her senior voice recital Sunday at 7 30 p m in the chapel with accompaniment by Marcia Wales. The program features works by Handel Mozart Schumann Weber Faure Delibes Bizet and more with pieces such as Oh Sleep Why Doest Thou Leave Me and Leise leise fromme Weise among selections.

Summer School At Cornell To Begin June 10 1941

Plans for the Cornell summer school 1941 call for two five week terms starting June 10. The Little Theatre program runs first half, while a C A A aviation course runs all summer. Final offerings pending but to be announced soon.

Campus Musicians Attend Conference in Des Moines

Prof. Lloyd Oakland and six senior music students attend the North Central Music Educators conference in Des Moines from March 15 to 19. Attendees include Betty Elmquist Blaine Thornell Marcia Wales Mary Beth Collister Mary Jane Crossley and Marjorie Humby. The group will study music publishers exhibits attend sectional meetings and join discussion groups.

Leyssac to Lecture on Hans Christian Andersen and Peter and the Wolf

Cornell students will host Paul Leyssac for the next Cornell Lecture course on Tuesday March 36th. He will recount Andersen tales and perform Peter and the Wolf with pianist Jacques Jolas, a program he and Jolas presented with Walter Damrosch.

Freshman Group Plans Vigorous As We Are Edition

Freshman writers to publish As We Are after spring vacation with 27 freshmen reporting post call. Blanche Gabrielson and Dick Silliman chosen as co editors after spirited balloting.
