Faculty Owls Seek Campus Status and Cabin Use

The Beta Omicron social group known as the Owls asks faculty approval to operate on campus and to keep using a Cedar River cabin owned by alumni. A rule restricting real estate ownership by groups may be amended, with the next faculty meeting on March 15 to decide. The Owls were previously a secret group disbanded last spring and allowed to reform on September 13, 1949.

Coketails Precede Sweetheart Swirl at AWS Dance

Pfeiffer and Bowman halls host Coketails before the Sweetheart Swirl with eight to nine pm mixers led by Janet Reinert AWS general chairman. The dance runs 8:30 pm to 12 pm with Bill Meardon and his band. Novelty numbers will precede intermission and 1 o clock hours are set for the girls.

The Coe Cornell dance set for April 28 collapses as Gene Krupa will not be available. Krupa opts for the deep south delaying the northern tour. Cornell and Coe seek Charlie Spivak as replacement amid regional bookings. Bill Phillips comments on upcoming options.

Alumni Dinners Boost 100 Year Centennial Fund

J M Macaulay official praised Western dine events as a success and noted that about one tenth of Cornell alumni live in the area. He cited Los Angeles as hosting the largest dinner with 140 alumni attending. President Russell D Cole joined the San Francisco event after travel.

Student Government Elections Set to Begin Monday

Elections for student government offices start Monday with floor nominations for president AWS and Men's Senate in Chapel. Nominations close March 14 at 10 p.m. Preliminary voting on March 15 determines final candidates, with speeches March 17 and final elections March 20. March 21 announces new officers. The Student Council also requires a social committee within the first month and appoints heads for Religious Emphasis Week and the Central Fund drive.

Cornell Student Fellowship begins a three part program on Religion and the Sciences. The first session Sunday evening features Dr Francis E Throw discussing the relations of religion to physics. Later meetings will cover religion and social and political sciences with speakers TBA.

Community Group To Start Discussions On Social Groups

The Community conference will discuss campus social groups and related problems at 4 30 p m next Monday at the Cole Bin. The agenda committee will prepare the first discussion on social groups and their function on campus and invites all interested students to attend and share views.

Delinda Roggensack director of Cornell's audio-visual aids program spoke to the Audio-Visual section of the Music Teachers' National Association in Cleveland Ohio last Wednesday Her speech extending the use of Films in Music is printed in Music Journal She visited Wilmette Illinois on the way to the convention to work on a second film in the Your Voice series The first film has been shown on the Cornell campus She also spent Friday and Saturday as a guest of Dr Frank Shaw in Oberlin Ohio Shaw a retired director of the Oberlin Conservatory was formerly director of the Cornell conservatory

Atom Day At Cornell To Explore Atomic Energy

Iowa leaders organize Atom Day on Cornell campus Wednesday March 22 with a theme What the Civilian Needs to Know and Can Know About Atomic Energy. George Glasheen of the Atomic Energy Commission will attend the afternoon program.
