New Husk Magazine Promises Extra Pages For March
The Husk will publish Monday with four more pages, backed by twenty-two years of Cornell support. Editor Dr. Tull notes the March issue features more prose, less verse, a blue two tone cover designed by Mark Mirich, and debut works by Lois Cornell and Bill Slothower. The issue includes Suzan Van Buskirk’s Lights On, Naomi Williams stories and poems, Marion White prose, June Dreyer poetry, Penny Jones sonnet, and a tribute essay by Barbara Lieberknecht On Being Twenty with the poem Immortality.

The inauguration of the new officers of the W A A and A W S occurs tonight March 10 at Armstrong Hall from 7 30 to 10 30 The initiation will finish around 8 30 followed by a dessert supper and guests entertainment Bridge lessons for beginners and games for others are planned Kay Marshall Nancy Price Ruth Beck and Marilyn Lynch lead the event with social duties.

Death Takes Bishop T Nicholson
Bishop Thomas Nicholson died at his Mount Vernon home on Tuesday March 7. Funeral services were held that afternoon with Bishop Wade of Detroit area attending. A noted Methodist educator and church leader, he retired in 1932 after a long career at Cornell College Dakota Wesleyan University and Northwestern University. He helped found Epworth Heights and the American Colleges, led the Anti-Saloon League, and served as trustee for several institutions. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Riley Nicholson and daughter Mrs. Allen B Whitney.

Open House Planned at Rood House for March 11
The girls of Rood House announce an open house next Saturday night March 11 from 7 30 to 9 00 with refreshments after. It will be the first event since the Navy evacuated the site. The interior has been redecorated and officers lead the planning. Barbara Marshall handles publicity while Jo Day heads the organization with Bernice Hardwick as vice president Pat Bridgman as secretary treasurer and Mary Alice Walrod as social chairman.

Cornell editor Ehrensperger to speak during Religious Emphasis Week
Harold A. Ehrensperger editor of Motive and drama authority will be guest speaker for Religious Emphasis Week March 12 to 16. He will preach at the Methodist church on Sunday and speak at the Youth Fellowship service that evening. Margaret Bourke-White, famed photographer and author, will lecture at Cornell on Shooting the War with the A E F next Thursday at eight in the chapel. The Grill at Cornell to Close After 35 Years of Service
Historic Hilltop eatery The Grill, a Cornell student hangout for 35 years, is sold by Dr. Hodge to Dr. Craig Tenny of Central City. He will take possession March 20 and convert it into a physician’s establishment. Last night the grill hosted the final cokes and dances as the community reflects on a long tradition.

Cornellian Wins Writing Award for National Prize
Cornellian Don Lawson, class of 388, won first prize $100 in a Story magazine short story contest edited by Whit Burnett. Burnett requested material for a novel for publication by J B Lippincott Co. Lawson, a former Husk contributor, had stories praised as Distinction by BE and was aided by Sherwood Anderson in development. He edited the Royal Purple and wrote sports for the Cornellian two years.
