Power Plan eyed for Cornell college student council
In under two weeks a new Cornell College student council will assume duties as retiring Proxy Ken Power unveils the Power Plan. The proposal requires each candidate to form a caucus with a campaign manager a proposed platform and a signed petition aiming to improve candidate quality and deliberation beyond chapel floor nominations. The open offices include president of the student council AWS president and Men’s Senate presidents and all class officers except freshmen to be elected in fall. Current structure seats class presidents on the council and class representatives fill council and AWS or Men’s Senate, with dormitory presidents in the latter group. Axes remain for vice-president secretary and treasurer who do not serve on the council. The constitution limits qualifications for candidates to two unspecified conditions.

Orchesis a modern dance group will perform Dances in Perspective on Friday March 14 at 8 15 p.m. in the Little Theatre Armstrong hall with Sally Baird as president and Miss Persistentmire as sponsor. The program traces history through dances from primitive periods to the twentieth century using period music.

Campus Trio Preaches At Five Points Sunday
Three Cornellians preached in eastern Iowa towns Sunday morning. Dr Albion R King led a circuit with appointments at Preston Miles and Sabula at 9 10 and 11 am respectively. Ross Ludeman spoke at Elwood at 10 am and Bob Engle at Delmar. King chauffeured the party on difficult highways.

Rennie Leads El Kabir Shrine Chanters In Dual Concerts
Orville Rennie directed the El Kabir Shrine Chanters of Cedar Rapids in a DeWitt performance on Monday and a Tipton show on Wednesday night. The men’s singing group was formed four years ago by Rennie, who has led it regularly since its inception.

Five Named To Phi Beta Kappa
Four men and one woman at Cornell were elected to Phi Beta Kappa. The seniors named are Tom Cox Berwyn Illinois John Hickman Cedar Rapids William Jones Des Moines Jon Kosek Cedar Rapids and Patricia Reeve Lombard Illinois. The society founded December 5 1776 at the College of William and Mary began as a secret group and later opened to women.

Deuces Wild finale draws near with limited tickets
A capacity crowd is expected for the Deuces Wild finale with a few tickets left at Armstrong hall box office. The all student revue credits nearly 200 students and marks a revival of the annual undergraduate show produced by the students' social committee and led by drama major Cid Davison.

Lorraine Hill of Belle Fourche South Dakota was named editor of the Cornellian for 1952 53 by the Board of Publications. She will work with current editor John Kirkpatrick for 11 weeks to learn duties and will edit the final edition of the current school year. The editor's pay is two thirds board.

Former Professor Dies After Long Illness at 90
Dr William S Ebersole, 90, longtime classics and archaeology professor at Cornell College, died at his home at 3 a.m. Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He taught at Cornell from 1893 to 1934 and twice served as acting president. His will provides a $200,000 Ebersole Memorial Foundation for Student Health and a clinic building in Mt. Vernon.
