Death of Dr Hugh Boyd Noted Cornell College Faculty Member
Dr Hugh Boyd died at his Mount Vernon home on March 6 after years of poor health. He served Cornell College for 35 years, 25 as Latin head and 10 as Greek and Latin professor. He was acting president in 1873 and 1874 and became Professor Emeritus of Latin in 1906. Born August 6, 1835 in Keene Ohio, he studied at Ohio University and taught in Ohio public schools before joining Cornell College.
